Joint Epilepsy Council (JEC) - Political Activity

The next meeting of the APPGE will take place on Tuesday, 25th June at 4.00pm in Room R, Portcullis House. Chaired by Laura Sandys MP, the group is pleased to welcome Dan Poulter MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health as guest speaker.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Epilepsy meets regularly (four times a year) whilst Parliament is in session to address the needs of about 500,000 people with epilepsy in the United Kingdom. The Group brings together those interested in epilepsy issues and provides MPs with information and access to expert opinion.

The current Officers of the group are:

Membership is open to all Members of Parliament and to organisations interested and involved in epilepsy care. Members of the APG on Epilepsy come from all the major political parties, working together to promote the interests of people with epilepsy, their families and carers. Members of the public can observe Group meetings by prior arrangement with the Secretariat (see below).

Activities have focused on raising awareness of epilepsy, exploring issues such as access to health service provision, epilepsy awareness in education, employment, and social opportunities.

The Joint Epilepsy Council (JEC) provides the Secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Epilepsy.
