The David Lewis Centre - Working
Together To Enrich Lives
The David Lewis Centre is the largest provider of specialist
residential services for people who have complex epilepsy,
learning difficulties, physical disabilities, mental health and
other neurological conditions.
The Centre is unique in that it supports both children and
adults and is open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
The main centre of operations is located near to Alderley
Edge, Cheshire, while the organisation also operates a number
of residential homes in towns in the local community.
The Centre unites medical treatment, care and education in a
holistic approach, encouraging personal development to the best
of each person’s abilities. The Centre strives to ensure that
each individual has the opportunity to reach their full
potential.
A staff team of 950 people has the privilege of witnessing
real life changing moments when our residents achieve the
impossible. This dedicated team is made up of carers, teachers
and doctors as well as other healthcare professionals and
support staff.
Around 60 children aged between 9 and 19 attend the
Residential Special School. The Specialist Residential College
caters for 70 young adults aged from 19-25.The Continuing Adult
Education facilities provide work and training opportunities
for all the adult residents. In addition, a range of Specialist
Services offers assessments for people with mental health and
seizure related conditions.
The David Lewis Centre takes people from all over the United
Kingdom. The vast majority of people are residential, although
there are a number of people who access the facilities on a
daily basis or who may benefit from respite care.
The Centre makes a major contribution at regional and
national level and continually strives for excellence. This
commitment to continuous improvement is reflected in reports
from both Ofsted and the Commission for Social Care
Inspection.
In line with the wider agenda for people with disability,

integrated pathway which supports the development of
independence and life skills for everyone. The vision is for
the organisation to offer a range of services to users and
commissioning bodies which matches their personal needs and are
flexible enough to respond to a person’s developing levels of
independence or deterioration of condition.
